L.A. Guns, formé en Californie en 1987 par l'ex-guitariste des Guns N'Roses Tracii Guns, compte aussi dans ses rangs le batteur Steven Riley ex-W.A.S.P. Le groupe est représentatif du courant hair metal fleurissant à la fin des années 80 : un hard rock glamour (avec maquillage), orienté pop. Ce premier album est un succès américain principalement.
