Après avoir tourné depuis 1988 sous le nom de "Because Because Because", Matthew Caws (guitare) et Daniel Lorca (basse) s'adjoignent les services du batteur Ira Elliot. Le groupe changent de nom et emporte l'adhésion de Ric Ocasek pour la production d'un premier album qui séduit aussitôt MTV et les college radio. Une formule énergique et proche du power-pop des années 70/80, et pas mal d'humour...
