Par le style, Focus pourrait être présenté comme le pendant néerlandais de Jethro Tull, mais seulement si l'on ne considère que le single à succès extrait de ce premier album, "House of the King". Le groupe se distingue notamment par les compositions de Thijs Van Leer, mais aussi les remarques parties de guitare de Jan Akkerman, que beaucoup placent, à l'époque, au niveau des Clapton, Jimmy Page ou Jeff Beck.
